Comparative Cardiac Specimen Record 050-V
Catalogue designation: Be My Vamp — Color
Related specimen: 049-V, Greyscale
Primary question: Are 049 and 050 the same type of tissue presented differently, or biologically different specimens?
Records puts the two hearts side by side.
One pale grey.
One deep purple.
Both carry the same message.
Both arrived with razor blades.
Records: Same thing, but purple.
Z. Omb: That is the obvious hypothesis.
Records: You say “obvious” like you're preparing to ruin it.
Z. Omb: I am preparing to test it.
The colored specimen is visibly more vascular.
Dark branching lines run over the surface.
Several small orange-red droplets sit near the lower regions and beneath the blade.
Records
Blood?
Z. Omb
Possibly.
Records
Compared with the greyscale one, this looks much more alive.
Z. Omb
Appearance is not viability.
Surface sampling is performed from material already detached from the specimen.
The orange-red fluid contains hemoglobin.
Records
Blood confirmed.
Z. Omb
Blood-containing fluid confirmed.
Records
That counts.
The darker branching structures are then imaged.
They follow vessel-like paths rather than random surface cracking.
Records
Veins.
Z. Omb
Vascular structures, yes.
Some are superficial.
Some penetrate deeper into the tissue.
The purple coloration is the stranger part.
It is not only surface staining.
Cross-sectional imaging shows that the tissue itself is deeply pigmented.
Records
Purple myocardium.
Z. Omb
Yes.
Records
Normal?
Z. Omb
No.
But unusual color alone does not tell us whether the tissue is unhealthy.
Biochemical analysis finds normal cardiac proteins alongside an additional pigment compound.
The compound is present inside cells, not merely between them.
Records
So the heart itself is actually purple.
Z. Omb
Correct.
Records
Could that be why the blood looks orange-red against it?
Z. Omb
Partly perceptual contrast. The blood itself also differs slightly in composition from the 049 sample.
That gets Omb’s attention.
Comparison with 049-V shows:
049-V
- pale-grey tissue
- minimal visible fluid
- lower metabolic activity
- no obvious unusual intracellular pigment yet identified
050-V
- purple tissue
- active vascular fluid
- stronger metabolic markers
- additional intracellular pigment
Records
So not just a color variant.
Z. Omb
Probably not.
Records
Related?
Z. Omb
Very likely worth testing.
Blade Examination
The razor blade is not decorative.
It is embedded into the upper-right portion of the specimen.
Orange-red fluid emerges directly from the incision and tracks downward along the surrounding tissue.
Records looks at the heart.
Records: Okay. That one definitely did it.
Z. Omb: It definitely caused this local incision.
Records: Thank you.
Z. Omb: That does not establish that it caused the specimen to be removed from the body.
Records: You couldn't just let me have one.
The wound edges are examined.
The tissue immediately around the blade shows mechanical disruption consistent with a sharp cutting instrument.
Fluid collected directly from the wound contains hemoglobin and cellular material consistent with the specimen's vasculature.
So:
CUTTING INJURY CAUSED BY BLADE: CONFIRMED
But whether the blade was inserted before removal, during removal, or afterward remains unresolved.
Morphology assessment
Primary anomaly: How can an organ with the external geometry of a symbolic heart still function as a vascularized biological heart?
External morphology: strongly non-anatomical
Internal/vascular behavior: cardiac-like
Blood supply: present
Visible vessel network: present
Sharp-force injury: confirmed
Bleeding from incision: confirmed
Heart-shaped geometry: anomalous
Chamber arrangement, vessel routing, pumping function, internal symmetry and the relationship between pigmentation and tissue architecture remain under investigation.
The wording remains:
BE MY VAMP
No one knows who wrote it.
No one knows whether it refers to the specimen, the donor, the recipient, or simply the person who labeled it.
Records
Still romantic.
Z. Omb
Still suggestive.
Records
You really refuse to let romance be easy.
CURRENT RECORD

Orange-red fluid: Blood-containing
Purple coloration: Intrinsic to tissue
Additional intracellular pigment: Confirmed
Metabolic activity: Higher than 049-V

Records adds:
PURPLE HEART IS ACTUALLY PURPLE
Omb:
Yes.
Records:
I appreciate the straightforward days.
