Working question: When several narrow bands sit together, which ones remain distinct at a glance?

Records

The Demiboy Edition went onto the comparison board.

I stepped back.

“The frame looks silver from here.”

Z. Omb

“Come closer.”

At the table, the separate bands became clear: black, grey, white and light blue, following the wavy outline around the character.

Records

“No silver.”

Z. Omb

“A silver-like impression at that distance. Separate that from the colours in the artwork.”

They wrote down where I had stood, then marked a closer viewing position.

The character remained easy for me to distinguish at both distances. Its blonde hair and pink ears formed broad coloured areas. The frame contained much narrower divisions.

Records

“The character keeps its colours. The frame starts collecting itself into fewer.”

Z. Omb

“An interesting observation. Let us repeat it without telling the next viewer what you saw.”

Omb took their own turn at the marked positions. They could still distinguish some pale blue sections from farther away, but the narrow white and grey lines were harder to follow.

Our impressions overlapped without matching exactly.

We recorded both.

Records

“Shall I call it a distance effect?”

Z. Omb

“Call it what we observed at these distances, with this display and lighting. A physical print may give us a different result.”

The Mini and Medium variants made that distinction particularly useful.

A smaller finished sticker would preserve the overall arrangement while reducing the widths of individual bands. Whether every band remained clearly separated needed a physical proof.

Omb marked three areas for inspection: the narrow waves beside the ears, the convergence above the crown and the pointed end beneath the lettering.

Records

“The top looks almost gathered.”

Z. Omb

“The curves converge there. Trace them before calling them folds.”

We followed their visible paths on a plain diagram.

The background was a graphic arrangement of wavy bands. It was not a piece of folded fabric whose creases we had observed.

The diagram retained gaps where the character and lettering concealed the frame.

Then we returned to the central figure.

Records

“Same dress. Same crown. Demiboy Edition.”

Z. Omb

“Yes.”

Records

“So we keep the name without rewriting the outfit.”

Z. Omb

“The edition’s identity does not require a prescribed wardrobe.”

The dress, ears and crown remained visual elements of the shared character. The supplied Demiboy designation established the intended pride context.

We added no invented personal history to explain the character’s appearance.

The blue clothing and the light blue frame created another small comparison.

Records

“Those blues seem related.”

Z. Omb

“They occupy different parts of the composition. We can describe the visible colours without assuming they are identical.”

Omb isolated small areas in the study sketch, keeping the originals beside them. The saturated blue of the dress and the paler background blue were visibly different in the supplied image.

That gave us a useful reminder for the archive: blue was a broad colour description, not a precise reproduction specification.

Records

“Colour names are doing a lot of approximate work.”

Z. Omb

“They are useful. They also benefit from a reference.”

The lettering stayed bold throughout our viewing exercise. Its black fill, white surrounding shape and pink outline separated it from the busy frame.

The visible spelling was recorded as supplied.

Records

“‘FASHISM’S NOT CUTE’ for the image transcription.”

Z. Omb

“And ‘Fascism’s Not Cute’ for the listing.”

I checked the variant order before closing the file.

Records

“Mini first this time.”

Z. Omb

“Correct. Catalogue order deserves checking just as much as colour.”

Records

“The small one has seniority.”

Z. Omb

“It has suffix zero-one. Let us avoid creating a ribbon-cutting ceremony.”

CURRENT RECORD

Identity: Intentional anti-fascist pride artwork, Demiboy Edition.

Shared character: Crowned blonde figure with long pink bunny ears, sparkling eyes and a blue-and-white dress.

Frame: Wavy black, grey, white and light blue bands surrounding the character.

Viewing observations: Some narrow bands became harder to distinguish at greater viewing distance. Responses differed between the two observers.

Colour description: Light blue in the frame differs visibly from the more saturated blue clothing in the supplied image.

Geometry: Bands converge towards the pointed ends. No physical folded material is implied.

Identity interpretation: Edition name retained as supplied. Clothing and accessories do not determine personal identity.

Lettering discrepancy: Artwork reads “FASHISM’S NOT CUTE.” Customer-facing copy uses “Fascism’s Not Cute.”

Variants: 89.1 Mini; 89.2 Medium. Both belong to one product family.

Print verification: Physical band separation, small details and lettering clarity remain to be checked at both sizes.

Margin note — Records: Mini has declined the ceremony.
